Risk & Insurance Education Alliance Launches Self-Paced CIC Personal Lines Course

This article is part of a sponsored series by Risk & Insurance Education Alliance. Insurance professionals face a growing challenge: keeping up with complex coverage issues while balancing client needs, workload demands, and professional development requirements. To help meet that need, the Risk & Insurance Education Alliance has expanded its self-paced learning resources by launching the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Personal Lines course. Available 24/7, this course can be completed at your convenience during a 120-day window. The CIC Personal Lines course is approved for state continuing education (CE) credit in many states. This helps professionals meet ongoing compliance requirements while developing their expertise. Visit our website for details on CE eligibility in your state. The course consists of three parts: personal residential coverages, personal automobile coverages, and personal umbrella/excess liability. By the end of the CIC Personal Lines course, participants will be able to: Analyze personal lines insurance exposures involving homes, automobiles, and personal liability. Interpret policy language and apply coverage provisions to real-life cases. Identify coverage gaps, limitations, and exclusions across personal lines policies. Recommend appropriate personal insurance solutions that match client needs and risk profiles. Improve their ability to advise clients, manage coverage questions, and reduce E&O exposures. Build a stronger foundation for serving personal lines clients as a trusted insurance professional. The launch of the Personal Lines Self-Paced CIC course represents another step in the Alliance’s ongoing effort to provide insurance professionals with flexible pathways for career development. With this addition, five of the seven CIC courses are now available in a self-paced format: Agency Management, Commercial Casualty, Commercial Multiline, Commercial Property, and Personal Lines. For all self-paced courses, the exam is available online and can be scheduled at your convenience within the 120-day course window. The online exam is typically proctored remotely. Remember that earning the CIC designation requires completing five CIC courses of your choice and passing the corresponding exams within five calendar years after you pass your first CIC exam. Alternatively, you may complete four CIC courses, plus one CRM or CPRM course, and pass all corresponding exams within five calendar years to earn the CIC designation.
