And she has already fired the first shots at her young opponent, claiming Erika’s huge social media following will count for nothing once the bell rings. Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! Carla said: “I’ve learned that she’s become more known for her intentionally provocative social-media clips and ‘unpopular opinions’ on TikTok than for her boxing or any real skill she’s displayed during her amateur career. “I’m interested to see how that confidence translates when it’s just the two of us in the ring. “I’m not going to get drawn into a social-media war with her. I’m 37, I’ve got four kids and I’m a grown woman. She’s just a kid. “I don’t need to argue with someone on TikTok to prove anything. She’s going to find me a very different opponent to what she’s used to. I’ve got a lot more life experience and I’ve been through some very hard fights. “People are going to be interested to see what happens when the social-media world disappears, the cameras stop and the bell rings. She can bring her 250,000 followers with her – I’ll bring my fists.” Carla went the distance in a brutal five-round battle in her 125lb middleweight title bout against champion Gonzalez, with the judges handing the American combat sports star a narrow 3-2 decision in March.
