Jackman and Scott had never worked together prior to their upcoming film, even though the long list of movies starring Jackman saw him act under some of the best directors of all time. The Wolverine actor has been in movies helmed by names like Christopher Nolan, Baz Luhrmann, Darren Aronofsky, Denis Villeneuve, James Mangold, and many more. In recent years, the actor returned to his most famous role, playing Logan in Marvel Studios' record-breaking Deadpool & Wolverine. Now, Jackman is set to join Scott's extensive filmography in a role he knows well, as the actor has played a famous pirate before. Sony has announced that Scott and Jackman's new take on Treasure Island will be released in theaters on November 11, 2027. Scott will serve as the adventure movie's director, while Jackman will star as the pirate Blackbeard. The new Treasure Island movie's cast will also include two other major actors. While their roles have yet to be confirmed at the time of writing, Scott's adventure film will feature Adolescence's breakout star Owen Cooper and icon Hugh Grant.
