Richard Riehle, Office Space’s Tom Smykowski, Dead at 78

Richard Riehle, who played Tom Smykowski in Mike Judge’s 1999 black comedy Office Space, has died at the age of 78. According to TMZ, the actor passed away October 15th from natural causes. In Office Space, Riehle played Tom Smykowski, an Initech product manager whose position is deemed redundant despite his insistence that he has valuable “people skills.” A career actor, Riehle’s other notable film roles included The Man from Earth, The Fugitive, Jury Duty, and Duece Bigalow: Male Gigolo. On television, he appeared on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Grounded for Life, The West Wing, The Legends of Korra, and Barry.
