Revolut cuts back on ‘most useful’ perk for Londoners working from home

Alongside giants such as Monzo and Starling, it’s hugely popular with users, partially due to some of the perks you get with an account. For individuals willing to pay a monthly subscription, these benefits can range from ClassPass credits and access to Tinder Plus, to an online subscription to the Financial Times or free ChatGPT Go. And for Metal and Ultra customers, costing £14.99 and £55 a month respectively, there’s one bonus particularly tempting to freelancers. However, following a renegotiation between the two companies, some of the bank’s highest-paying subscribers have just lost access to some of co-working spaces most in-demand European sites. Metal customers receive one code per calendar month, valid for a single visit to WeWork spaces that month. If you’re an Ultra customer, you have access to the co-working space up to three times per month. Given the fact that a WeWork day pass starts at £35, this has been one of Revolut’s most popular benefits. However, utilising it will now become much more difficult. Latest London news According to the Financial Times, as of August, some of WeWork’s most in-demand sites in London will be affected. While a comprehensive list hasn’t been published, if you’re noticing that a London WeWork that you were once able to book through Revolut has suddenly disappeared, you’re not going crazy. Why has the perk disappeared? The reason for this major downscale is reportedly due to ‘economic factors’. WeWork has shared that the decision reflected ‘increased occupancy levels and demand’ in certain locations. Ultimately, WeWork wanted to prioritise day-passes for people who would be paying full price. Rather than withdraw the benefit entirely, the two companies renegotiated their deal. Originally founded in New York back in 2010, WeWork currently has a much larger presence in the US, meaning Europeans already are at a disadvantage when it comes to finding a hot desk for the day. And, considering that Revolut generated over £700 million in revenue from subscriptions in 2025, this news may come as quite the blow. Indeed, a number of premium customers aired their grievances online. @ffaabbss wrote on X: ‘This is very annoying as for me this was my #1 reason to be an Ultra customer’. Equally infuriated, @Atomik_Research described it as a ‘bad’ decision, adding that the WeWork passes were ‘the most useful benefit of all!’ Co-working spaces have become difficult to access in London due to high demand (Picture: Getty Images) Right now, there are 28 WeWork’s in London, which is roughly half of how many there used to be prior to the company’s bankruptcy in 2023. The company has recovered from the financial woes, and continues to have a stronghold on London’s professionals. In 2025, data published by City AM revealed that the company’s on-demand bookings – a pay-as-you-go membership option – rose by 30% in London compared to the same period in 2024. In particular, locations along the Elizabeth line have proved particularly popular, with a 12% increase in bookings near the tube line year on year.
