Sign in to your TheGamer account Resident Evil Requiem was both critically acclaimed and adored by fans, and the journey isn’t over. There will be DLC - that much we know for sure. Now we seemingly know a little more about it, as one of the writers behind the latest Resi game and its DLC accidentally revealed Spencer will be central to its story. Spencer Will Return In Requiem's DLC During an interview at a convention shared by Distance NERDing, Requiem writer Haris Orkin spoke a little too freely about plans for the game’s expansion. “We have an arc for Spencer in Requiem. They kind of… you understand that more and in the DLC for Requiem, you will understand it even further,” Orkin revealed, laughing as he then added, “I probably shouldn’t say that.” No, probably not, but it’s out there now, and Resident Evil fans have already picked up the ball Orkin dropped and run with it. Particularly those who have been trying to figure out a way that the Spencer Mansion might return to the series following rumors that surfaced almost immediately after Requiem released. Spencer Mansion's Return Cut From The Base Game via: youtube.com (Rio Ryne) Reliable Resi leaker Dusk Golem shared that the Spencer Mansion, as it appears in the original Resident Evil, was recreated to be included in Requiem. The mansion, for whatever reason, didn’t make it into the final version of the game. Dusk Golem questioned whether it might be included in DLC, which hadn’t been announced at the time, signing off the post by admitting they did not know whether that was the plan. It sparked hope for Spencer-themed DLC nonetheless, and now it seems more likely than ever that that’s exactly what we’re going to get. Orkin also mentioned that the DLC is still in the writing phase. Not only does this mean Requiem’s additional content is still a long way off seeing the light of day, but it tracks with the belief that the DLC won’t be released until the tail end of 2027. Spoilers for Requiem ahead and other older Resident Evil games from this point on. Spencer did have a role to play in Requiem, but only through archival footage. The latest Resi game’s story attempts to redeem the evil Umbrella founder somewhat. Spencer regrets the evil he has unleashed on the world, and the core of Requiem is the shared hunt for an Elpis, an antidote Spencer concocted to try and cure the T-virus. Spencer has been dead for a while, ever since he was killed by Wesker in Resident Evil 5. The leading theory now that we know we’re seeing more of him in Requiem’s DLC is that the expansion will be set in the past. Fans seem pretty keen on a DLC that explores more of Spencer’s story, diving deeper into his unlikely redemption arc.
