Zach Cregger's (Weapons) take appears to show a more human story, akin to what we've seen with the games, following Bryan, a medic, as he fights to survive during a horrifying Umbrella-driven outbreak. In the lead-up to its release, we've had a handful of trailers showing us what to expect when it releases in theatres. Now, to celebrate Biohazard Day in Japan, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a Japan-exclusive trailer featuring previously unseen footage from Cregger's upcoming movie. August 10 is Biohazard Day in Japan. It celebrates Capcom's series and is often used to promote and market upcoming releases. This is exactly what Sony Pictures has done with this new trailer in Japan. While much of the 30-second video is footage we've previously seen, it contains some never-before-seen clips tucked away. One of these moments features an infected human sitting bolt upright, with tendrils protruding from their cheek. It shows how the new Resident Evil movie will lean more into the body-horror genre, complementing some of the previous footage, including the human mass escaping through a door, which we've already seen. In the trailer thumbnail, our protagonist, Bryan, is shown being grabbed by these tendrils. However, that footage doesn't appear in the video itself. It's likely that this will be some of the last new footage we'll see of the movie ahead of its launch, although interviews with its director and actors will continue until then. Most recently, Cregger said that "The concept here is that we're following an idiot. Not that he's stupid, but he's not your typical game character, with no combat skills whatsoever and completely inept at survival. Bryan is very much an everyman who happens to be burdened with this kind of sacred mission that's going to take him into the heart of everything. It's kind of like Frodo going into Mordor."
