However, the studio will reportedly buck that trend with Veronica, developing an original, brand-new DLC for the remake. "[M-Two/K2] are the ones leading development on RE9's DLC. Which I don't hate, again I think RE3 was a good first RE game for them just a shame it had to be a RE3 Remake but that's more on Capcom, & Separate Ways I think showed improvement from them. I've only heard about one story DLC for Requiem & one story DLC for Veronica," reputable leaker Dusk Golem said on X. "Both are being made to be a few hours long up the alley of Separate Ways & Shadow of Rose however." What Could The Veronica DLC Be? As with any leak, the usual caveats apply: take it with a grain of salt, it's not confirmed until it's official, yada yada — you know the drill. Dusk Golem gets a lot of flak from the community, but they've gotten plenty right, most notably that Requiem was originally a multiplayer online game, before pivoting to a more traditional Resident Evil with an older, grizzled Leon Kennedy as a playable character. The leaks they tend to get "wrong" are often more indicative of Capcom changing strategy, scrapping plans, or rebooting development. All of which could happen to the supposed Veronica DLC. With the boilerplate disclaimers out of the way, let's speculate on what the Veronica expansion might entail should it survive to launch. Capcom has said that Veronica will be treated just like any other numbered entry, and that it will serve to connect the remake and modern-day storyline. So, there are a few possibilities it could take with the DLC. Wesker's side of the story, much like Separate Ways shone a light on Ada Wong's perspective. We could follow him stealing samples, investigating Umbrella's research, and uncovering something that ties into the Connections in the modern day. Claire's missing chapter, showing what she was doing between RE2 and Veronica. The reveal trailer already hints at expanding her search for Chris. The Ashford family experiments, delving into Alfred and Alexia's backstory and the origins of the Veronica virus. Or, none of the above. Though my money's on a Wesker expansion with a heap of Connections breadcrumbs for whatever Resident Evil 10 is cooking, given that Capcom is supposedly planning to launch it in 2029.
