Remorseful Jon Rahm divot strikes volunteer in the face at PGA Championship

The first round of the 108th PGA Championship from Aronimink Golf Club is in the books. There are a whopping seven players tied atop the lead at 3-under par. Among them, to no one's surprise, is World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler. But lurking not far behind are several former major champions, including the Spaniard, Jon Rahm.Rahm shot a 1-under 69 on Thursday, sitting tied for 15th.But it wasn't always smooth sailing for the two-time major winner. While playing the par-4 7th, Rahm hit a poor approach shot, and out of frustration, took a swing at the ground.“I got a flier on my second shot that went long. It's not a good spot. Just out of frustration, I tried to make an air swing, just over the grass, and I wasn't looking. I took a divot, and unfortunately, I hit a volunteer,” Rahm said.“Yeah, it hit him, and unfortunately, it hit him in the shoulder and then the face. Which I couldn't feel any worse. That's why I was there apologizing. I need to somehow track him down to give him a present because that's inexcusable, and for something that could be completely avoidable. Jon Rahm hit a flyer on the 7th hole today and then took a swing in frustration at the grass and ended up hitting a volunteer with his divot. After the round he was incredibly apologetic and fully owned up to his poor etiquette: “Thanks for reminding me of that.
