However, when a studio does not have the capacity for a full remake or remaster, it is not uncommon for them to turn to ports, allowing their hit games to become playable on newer-gen consoles for the first time. That is the case for one hit PlayStation 2 game, which first launched back in 2004, as it has finally made its way to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S and better yet, it will be free for the majority of fans. Back on 14 August, a native port of a fan-favorite PS2 game’s 2020 remake was made available on the PlayStation 5 and those who already own the game on the PlayStation 4 will be able to nab the upgrade at no extra cost. The game in question is none other than Mafia: Definitive Edition, the 2020 remake of Mafia which was originally a PlayStation 2 release. Now, the game has been upgraded even more as it will now be playable on the PlayStation 5 after previously being available as part of the PlayStation Plus library. That being said, if you previously grabbed Mafia: Definitive Edition as part of the PlayStation Plus library, you will not be eligible for the free upgrade. Instead, you have to already own the PlayStation 4 version. This was confirmed on the Mafia Discord earlier this month.
