The Redmagic Astra 2 is official for the global market, with US pricing now confirmed, but a release date that won’t land until August. Launched in China as the Redmagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, the Astra 2 is a sequel to one of our favorite compact-but-powerful Android gaming tablets. Like the first generation, it has a 9-inch~ AMOLED display, a fingerprint sensor, and a ton of power under the hood, making it a good competitor to the Lenovo Legion Tab. Redmagic Astra 2 will be available starting at $/€699 in global markets. That’s for the 12GB/256GB model, with a higher price of $799 for the 16GB/512GB model, and cheaper than Lenovo’s latest Legion Tab release. The initial release will kick off in “mid-August” for those who manage to obtain an “early bird voucher,” with a wide global release later in the month. Redmagic Astra 2 at Redmagic Store Recapping the specs on display here, you’re getting a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with “liquid cooling” for gaming performance, a 9.06-inch AMOLED display at up to 185Hz, an 8,300 mAh battery that can be charged at up to 75W through both USB-C ports (at the same time), and Android 16 out of the box with Redmagic’s skin over top. We’ve already spent some hands-on time with Astra 2, and it’s a strong follow-up to last year’s model. Stay tuned for a review in the coming weeks.
