Red Dead Redemption 2 Next-Gen Graphics Showcase Is Wild, Boah

Red Dead Redemption 2 may already be one of the most visually stunning video games of all time, even years after its initial launch, but with technology ever-evolving, today's hardware is capable of making the Rockstar masterpiece look even better. Whilst Rockstar may be holding out on the goods, otherwise known as a next-gen port for Red Dead Redemption 2, the main reason why fans are calling out for it are not to do with the game's graphics, more its performance and 30fps cap. When it comes to RDR2's visuals and graphics, they are pretty hard to beat, with Rockstar's attention to detail being clear in every single frame. That being said, playing around with settings, and pushing them to their limits never hurt anybody, and that is exactly what Digital Dreams over on YouTube has done. Thanks to an incredible visual upgrade, Digital Dreams has pushed Red Dead Redemption 2 to a whopping 8K using the RTX 5090 and a next-gen overhaul mod. As always, you can download all of Digital Dreams' mods for free over on Nexus Mods, but it is also worth noting that this YouTuber has a PC capable of pushing settings to the limit, so the results will not be achievable by everybody. Nevertheless, in a 9-minute showcase, we can see an 8K Red Dead Redemption 2 in all its glory, but it does not take a genius to understand that this is a heavily modded version. Shadows and light contrast more than ever, sunlight glints from water in stunning detail, and streetlights burn in the Saint Denis night as shopfront lights flood onto the cobbled streets. Using their own Reshade, Digital Dreams has given us just a glimpse into what a modern-gen Red Dead Redemption 2 could look like, and the results are truly breathtaking. However, not everybody agrees that this level of photorealism would have been Rockstar's hope for the title. "That's not how God intended RDR2 to be played," one comment read. Another said, "Always play the original ones on the best graphics cards that you have. Never use mods, it takes away the feeling of originality." However, with another user praising Red Dead Redemption 2's scenery, it seems as though a visual enhancement such as this is hit or miss depending on the player. What it does achieve is giving us a glimpse into the visuals that we could expect with Rockstar's next major release, and you do not need me to tell you what it is. Set to release in just two months time, Grand Theft Auto VI will reportedly be the most ambitious video game of all time, and we can only hope that its graphics live up to Rockstar's previous standards.
