His BMW was eventually seized by police after he was involved in a crash in September 2023. The investigation revealed a note on his phone with a fabricated story about the collision — claiming it was another driver’s fault and that they had left the scene. A search of the car’s computer found it recorded speeds of over 107mph eight times in a year. Charlton, 32, was charged with ten dangerous driving offences and four of perverting justice for arranging for others to take penalty points for him. Charlton, of nearby Hunslet, got four years’ jail and was banned from driving for four years and seven months.
