Reacher Officially Renewed for Season 6 on Prime Video

Just days after season 4 of the action series starring Alan Ritchson aired its season finale — and in the midst of production on season 5 — Prime Video has confirmed that a sixth season of Reacher is officially in the works. That's no surprise, based on the viewership of Reacher season 4: The streamer said the most recent season of the TV show reached 66 million viewers globally in its first 28 days on Prime Video. Prime Video calls Reacher "among Prime Video's most-watched original series," with more than 200 million viewers worldwide to date. Reacher is drawing a big international audience According to Prime Video, Reacher season 4 now ranks among the top-five most-viewed seasons of any original series in the history of the streaming service. Intriguingly, more than half of Reacher's audience is based internationally, with strong viewership in the U.K., Germany, and Brazil, Prime Video said in a news release. Image: Prime Video The recently aired fourth season of Reacher is based on author Lee Child's novel Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in the Reacher series. Season 5 of the show will be based on Child's Make Me, the 20th book, Amazon MGM previously confirmed. Prime Video did not announce which book is slated to be adapted for Reacher season 6, but previous seasons of the show have adapted Killing Floor, Bad Luck and Trouble, and Persuader into TV seasons. The Reacher films starring Tom Cruise adapted Child's One Shot and Never Go Back. According to Ritchson, one of Child's Reacher novels sounds like it's off the table: 1998's Die Trying, the second Jack Reacher book. Ritchson, responding to a fan on Threads, said that Die Trying is his favorite Reacher book, and "I had it approved until someone got re-elected" — ostensibly referring to U.S. President Donald Trump. The second Jack Reacher book sees the series' hero kidnapped by members of a separatist white supremacist militia in Montana. There's no shortage of material to draw from, though. The Jack Reacher series includes 30 books and a short story collection, with more to come. The fifth season of the action-packed show is currently in production in Toronto and expected to wrap filming later this year, which would mean a mid- to late-2027 release date. Given the pace at which Amazon MGM Studios turns around new seasons of Reacher — about 15 to 18 months — we shouldn't expect season 6 of the show to arrive until late 2028 or early 2029. The latter would potentially mean a new administration, so maybe Ritchson will get his Die Trying adaptation eventually. In the meantime, the actor may also take on another adaptation, starring in a film based on Helldivers. Season 5 of Reacher has been described by series creator Lee Child as a "brutal" and "disgusting story." Child recently told Collider, "It’s not fit for family consumption, so I don’t know what they’re going to do about the actual crime in that." Sounds fun. Reacher debuted on Prime Video in 2022. Four seasons of the show are currently streaming. The eight-episode spinoff series Neagley is also streaming on Prime Video.
