Rays place LHP Garrett Cleavinger (forearm) on IL

Cleavinger has made 51 relief appearances for the Rays this season with a 4.79 ERA and 1.427 WHIP. Last season, he posted much stronger numbers with a 2.35 ERA and 0.946 WHIP in 67 appearances. In corresponding moves, the Rays are calling up right-hander Ty Johnson and designated infielder Oliver Dunn for assignment to open up a 40-man roster spot. Johnson, 24, is now in line to make his MLB debut. This season, he posted a 3.03 ERA and 0.963 WHIP in 21 games (10 starts) for Triple-A Durham. Dunn played briefly across nine games for the Rays this season, going 1-for-11 with an RBI and a walk. The 29-year-old has a .197/.253/.275 slash line across three MLB seasons. --Field Level Media
