Rayman Legends Retold's Rabbid Easter Egg Has Been Found

Almost immediately after Rayman’s brand producer hinted that Rabbids would appear in Rayman Legends Retold, fans have spotted them hiding in the most recent trailer. Yesterday, I published an interview with Loic Gounon, the brand producer for Rayman, about the impending release of Legends Retold. During the interview, we chatted about the remake’s mysterious new villain with connections to Rayman and the big fan theory that they’re actually a Rabbid underneath the shadowy cloak. Gounon laughed that theory off, noting that Retold has hints towards the new villain’s identity but that it’s “maybe not that”. It wasn’t all bad news for Rabbids fans, though, as Gounon also confirmed that there might be something in the game related to the Rabbids, which has seemingly already been found in a new trailer. Rayman Legends Retold Has A Rabbids Cameo, And You Can Already See It Right Where They Belong Yesterday, Ubisoft released a hefty game overview trailer for Rayman Legends Retold, which gives a good look at everything new that’s been added to the remake. During a section of the trailer that focuses on the outfits that Rayman and the gang can wear, we get a quick shot of Disco Rayman dancing on a stage. This scene, which seems to take place in one of Retold’s new music levels, has a very interesting background detail. There’s a cage behind Rayman with a barely visible creature in it that’s moving around and banging the bars. As pointed out by Twitter user ContendoYT, the creature in the cage is actually a Rabbid. If you look really closely at the cage, you can clearly see the Rabbid’s trademark bottom-heavy design and wide eyes. It’s very easy to miss considering the shot in the trailer is only a second or two long, but we officially have our first sighting of a Rabbid in Rayman Legends Retold, and a fitting one at that. It’s not clear if this is the treat that Gounon was talking about, or if there’s more to be found in the final game, but I’m hoping that the Rabbids pop up in a few different places. After all, their landing site is on the game’s official map, so there’s clearly a precedent for them still being in the Rayman universe.
