Ray Winstone's clash with 'screaming' West Ham fans at last Millwall match revealed

Football Factory icon and Millwall fan Hassan reminisced on their tense experience with rivals West Ham ahead of the upcoming dockers derby.Winstone had to step in over Hassan “rage-baiting” West Ham fans in a “hairy” exchange at the 2012 match and managed to silence the crowd with one warning.“I know a lot of West Ham supporters in my world. A lot of people think I’m West Ham sometimes, they go ‘Irons!’ and I respond ‘Lions!,’” he said on the quiz show, Call Yourself A Fan? “When they played last, thirteen or fourteen years ago, Millwall played at the old West Ham ground and Ray called me up and says, ‘Tammy, do you want to come for some pie and mash for Millwall? He went ‘Run the gauntlet you Millwall mug!’, so I didn’t get a car park pass. “I got there and asked to be dropped outside the gate, ran through the door and got into the box. It started getting a bit hairy and a bit heated. I’ve got to tell you - Ray’s got some clout down there!“Me being me, I pop my head over [to the fans] and start doing my bit. They all start turning round like, ‘you ***** Millwall’ and start screaming at me. So, I’m ragebaiting as they can’t get to me, can they? He [Ray] pulls me back and goes ‘Turn it in, right!’ and he leans his head over and goes ‘Oi, he’s with me’. Immediately quiet, I’m telling you, quiet.”Hassan added: “As the game finishes, you can hear it all kicking off outside, sirens going everywhere, proper melees going on. “I went ‘Should we go?’ and he said ‘Are you mental? They will all be trained to deal with public disorder.Ahead of the match, the Met posted on X: “On Saturday, 19 September at 12:30hrs, @MillwallFC face @WestHam at the Den – the first time the two clubs have met since 2012.“We want fans to enjoy the match safely and have worked with both clubs to help this happen.“As with any fixture, the Sporting Events Act 1985 is in place, which means entering or attempting to enter a ground while intoxicated is strictly prohibited. A Section 35 dispersal order will also be in place, allowing officers to remove anyone causing disorder.Rival fans will be told to use specific Tube and rail stations on Saturday in an attempt to keep supporters of the two clubs apart.
