Actor Ravi Teja, Telugu cinema's Mass Maharaja, has hit a career milestone at the box office with Irumudi. The Shiva Nirvana directorial has crossed the Rs 150-crore mark worldwide, becoming the actor's first film as a lead to achieve the feat. Its worldwide gross was estimated at Rs 136.70 crore at that point. By Day 9, the film had gathered enough momentum to cross Rs 150 crore worldwide. Another trade report put its worldwide total at Rs 154.67 crore at the end of the ninth day, comprising Rs 114.55 crore in India net, Rs 135.17 crore in India gross and Rs 19.50 crore from overseas.A strong second weekWhat makes Irumudi's run particularly noteworthy is that it has maintained momentum beyond its opening week. The film witnessed a 21.8 per cent jump in India collections on its second Saturday, with the Telugu version driving the growth. The Day 10 numbers have further strengthened its position. The film added Rs 15 crore nett in India on Sunday from 3,043 shows, while overseas contributed another Rs 1 crore.With the worldwide total now nearing Rs 175 crore, the film has emerged as one of the biggest successes of Ravi Teja's career. From a difficult phase to a major comebackThe success of Irumudi also comes at an important point in Ravi Teja's career. The actor had gone through a difficult phase at the box office, with several of his recent films failing to make the expected impact.Irumudi, however, presented him in a different space.
