The dispute over Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3 has now moved to the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), with the actor’s father agreeing to meet the producers’ body and discuss the matter. The development comes nearly three months after Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani first approached the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) over the actor’s reported last-minute withdrawal from the project.According to IMPPA president Abhay Sinha, Farhan and Ritesh approached the association last month with a complaint against Ranveer and submitted documents related to the project. While Ranveer’s lawyer had initially maintained that the matter did not fall under IMPPA’s jurisdiction and that the actor would therefore not participate in the proceedings, his father later contacted the association and expressed his willingness to attend a meeting.According to The Times of India, Sinha said, “Farhan and Ritesh approached us with a complaint against Ranveer and sought our intervention in the matter last month. We subsequently wrote to Ranveer asking him to respond. His lawyer replied that the matter did not fall within IMPPA’s jurisdiction and that they would therefore not participate.""However, three days ago, Ranveer’s father approached us and expressed their willingness to meet. We also received his advocate’s email stating that they would participate in the meeting whenever it was scheduled," he added.Farhan, Ritesh submit Don 3 documents to IMPPA The producers have also shared documents concerning Don 3 with IMPPA, including the agreement they had signed with Ranveer. Nishant Ujjwal, an IMPPA committee member and general secretary of the Film Makers Combine, said the producers explained their concerns at a meeting on Friday.Speaking to The Times of India, Ujjwal said, “In a meeting on Friday, Farhan and Ritesh told us about the issues they had faced. They showed us the agreement signed between them and Ranveer and also shared that a promo for the film had been shot. We don’t know the reason for his exit.” Ujjwal added that the association was yet to hear Ranveer’s side of the dispute. “We have seen his message to the filmmakers’ team saying that he was too excited about Don. We will understand his side only after meeting his father or another representative. We are expecting to hold another meeting soon, following which we will arrive at a decision,” he said. The upcoming meeting is therefore expected to give IMPPA an opportunity to hear Ranveer’s side before it takes a position on the dispute. How the Don 3 dispute beganThe dispute dates back to April, when Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani approached IFTDA over Ranveer’s exit from Don 3. IFTDA subsequently referred the matter to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) for intervention. In May, FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer in connection with the dispute. The directive, however, was withdrawn eight days later after IMPPA requested that it be revoked, with the producers’ body expected to intervene and work towards a resolution. At the time, FWICE president BN Tiwari said the decision to withdraw the directive was taken to ensure that all sides had an opportunity to present their case.“We had written to all producers’ bodies informing them about our decision to issue a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. However, the federation also believes that no decision should be taken without hearing all sides and bringing everyone onto a common platform for dialogue. IMPPA and the Producers Guild of India responded to us, extending their support on the issue. Along with CINTAA, they also requested us to withdraw our decision. Therefore, with effect from today, we are withdrawing the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh,” Tiwari had said. With Ranveer’s father now agreeing to meet IMPPA, the producers’ body is expected to hear his side before deciding on the next course of action. The reason behind the actor’s exit from Don 3 has not been officially established.- EndsPublished On: Aug 17, 2026 06:42 IST
