The government has cleared the transfer of DRDO-developed conventional missile technologies to eligible Indian companies, in a move aimed at strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and expanding MSME participation in the sector.The technology transfer will help bridge the gap between missile development and large-scale industrial production. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of technologies developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for all conventional missile systems to Indian defence companies for domestic production.The Ministry of Defence said the move marks a significant step towards expanding the role of Indian industry in the country’s defence ecosystem and enabling greater indigenous manufacturing of advanced missile systems.The technology transfer will help bridge the gap between missile development and large-scale industrial production, allowing domestic companies to manufacture these systems subject to applicable qualifications, certifications and regulatory requirements.According to the ministry, the initiative is aimed at strengthening India’s domestic defence manufacturing capabilities and expanding the country’s defence industrial base.
