Instead of a conventional journey home after their nikah, Aina and Mausina flew by helicopter with their spouses, turning a family celebration into a village spectacle.The wedding took place on Sunday, when Rohil Khan and Sahir Khan, sons of a farmer in Alwar district, married two sisters from a village nearby. The brothers arranged for a helicopter to bring their brides home, fulfilling the women’s wish to travel to their marital home by air. The out-of-the-box arrival drew hundreds of villagers, many of whom gathered to watch the helicopter and pose for photographs beside it.For the two brides, the helicopter ride was more than an extravagant wedding gesture. It was a way to fulfil a wish they had expressed for their departure to their new home. The crowd that gathered to see the aircraft added to the spectacle. The family hired the helicopter from the Pinan rest house on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the grooms’ uncle, Shahabuddin Khan, said.The booking cost Rs 5 lakh for four hours. The helicopter spent two hours in one village and another two hours in the other, allowing it to serve both sides of the wedding.Shahabuddin Khan said the helicopter company had secured the necessary approvals from the relevant departments for the arrangement.While the helicopter and the expense drew attention, the family’s stated reason for organising the journey was simple: to fulfil the brides’ wish.(With inputs from Himanshu Sharma)- Ends
