Raiders, Michael Mayer agree to three-year extension

The deal is reportedly worth $45 million, with $30 million guaranteed.The Raiders’ 2023 second-round draft pick, Mayer was heading into the final season of his four-year rookie contract.The Raiders have invested big in the tight end position, with Mayer and 2024 first-round pick Brock Bowers, who may be seeking his own contract extension next year. Although the Raiders’ depth chart lists Mayer as Bowers’ backup, the reality is that when both Mayer and Bowers are healthy, they’ll both be on the field for most of the Raiders’ offensive snaps.New Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak is hoping to build an offense around rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza, and he thinks that in Mayer and Bowers, he has two good security blankets for his young passer.
