RAGING bulls have killed two people and injured 11, hurling spectators in the air like rag dolls as they charge through the streets at a festival. A 24-year-old American woman from Texas is reportedly among those hospitalised at this year’s Huamantlada festival. It saw 21 fighting bulls let loose in the street. Injuries included a woman who was thrown in the air by one of the huge animals and struck in the face. Terrifying footage shows her attempting to flee the animal as it charged at her. She crashes to the ground in front of horrified onlookers, as the bull rounds on her again. More harrowing video shows one of the men thought to have lost his life at the festival being charged at and gored. The clip shows him being tossed in the air before his is dragged away. The deaths were the first for eight years at the festival. Juan, the youngest fatality, lived locally. He is said to have been gored by a bull after losing his balance and falling to the ground. Many people questioned the festival’s traditions after the deaths. Bruno Gonzalez shared a photo of Juan and wrote on Facebook: “At what point does tradition become thoughtlessness, violence and negligence? “And when it becomes that, is it worth perpetuating it over time? May he rest in peace.” It comes after several people were injured at this year’s running of the bulls at Pamplona’s San Fermín festival. They included a Brit tourist who was rushed to hospital.
