A RADIO 5 Live star “struggled to hold it together” as she quit the show after 15 years on air – and has now been replaced by Naga Munchetty. Today, it was revealed that current Breakfast hosts, Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards, will be stepping down in December. Addressing fans she said: “I have some news to share, with you, ah, I really need to try and keep it together. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! “I said I’d keep it together! We (her and Rick) have been working together on 5 Live Breakfast for five years now, and I have been co-presenting this show for over 15 years. “And I have loved, I think, almost every single minute of it. “But we have both been thinking a lot in recent months about what comes next, and I guess how we meet sort of shifting priorities in our lives.” After revealing they would be stepping down from the Breakfast show in December, Rachel then said that she would still be working at 5 Live and added that she was “never leaving this place”. Rachel said she was ‘struggling to hold it together’ as she announced her news Credit: BBC 5 Live Rachel’s co-host Rick Edwards has also quit Credit: BBC 5 Live Sharing the clip on their Instagram grid, Radio 5 Live penned: “Breakfast hosts, Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards, announced this morning that they will step down in December.“Naga Munchetty will become the new co-presenter of 5 Live Breakfast, taking the helm of the station’s flagship morning programme five days a week from January 2027.“As part of the changes, Rachel Burden will move to present the weekday mid-morning programme, Monday to Wednesday 11-2pm, following 15 years on the station’s Breakfast show.” It comes after it was revealed that Naga had quit BBC Breakfast after 17 years. Meanwhile, Naga is already a familiar voice on Radio 5 Live, having presented the station’s weekday mid-morning programme since 2021.
