The competitor completed the rowing machine, sled push and medicine ball throw sections of the multi-discipline indoor fitness competition after their accident. Hyrox say they launched a “major cleanup operation” after the race which included sanitising equipment and replacing sections of the flooring. But some competitors are demanding an apology from organisers and a refund. The athlete, who was the subject of backlash when footage of the race began circulating online, posted an Instagram story of themselves on an IV drip. Alongside the story, which was subsequently deleted, was the message: “Go hard or go home… a win is a win. In all seriousness, thank you for all the support. I’ll be back soon x.” Hyrox have condemned those giving the competitor a hard time. Hyrox has exploded in popularity since their first event in 2018, with specialist gyms opening up around the world. Comment now
