The upcoming sci-fi film, Raaka, directed by Atlee and featuring actors Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone, has entered the Guinness World Records for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time.” Produced by Sun Pictures’ Kalanithi Maran, the record was set after 37 performers were captured simultaneously in a single session, marking a notable technological milestone for Indian cinema.Achieved during production in February 2026, the record was officially certified on September 15. Swapnil Dangrikar, Senior Adjudicator at Guinness World Records, presented the certificate to lead actor Allu Arjun and director Atlee at a ceremony attended by the film’s core cast and crew.Actor Allu Arjun, while speaking about the honour, said, “We are extremely proud of this remarkable achievement, which pushes the boundaries of cinema and sets a new benchmark on a global scale. With God’s grace, I’m deeply grateful to my entire team who believed in this dream and made this moment ours.” During the shoot, 37 performers — ranging from a four-year-old child to a 70-year-old — were motion-captured in real time within a single capture volume. The primary technical hurdle lay in tracking each individual actor's movement data simultaneously without signal loss or spatial distortion.To achieve the record, the visual effects team engineered a custom motion-capture pipeline tailored to the production's technical demands. The setup deployed 92 optical motion-capture cameras alongside Unreal Engine for real-time visualisation, synchronised witness feeds, and facial tracking technology to manage live data stream calibration.
