Premanand Maharaj's words on concentration offer a simple lesson for students, professionals and anyone struggling to focus. Here is what the quote means, along with other teachings associated with the Vrindavan saint.Quote of the Day by Premanand Maharaj: When there is concentration, two tasks cannot... New Delhi,Oct 8, 2026 07:30 IST"When there is concentration, two tasks cannot be done at the same time."There are times when the mind appears to be doing several things at once — studying while checking the phone, working while replying to messages or listening to something while trying to read. But Shri Hit Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj’s teaching is that true concentration requires the mind to be fully engaged in the task at hand.In a Bhajan Marg post published on April 14, 2025, Maharaj was asked how people could remember God while working for eight to 10 hours in an office. His answer was that when a task requires concentration, the mind should be completely involved in it.“If our concentration is disturbed even slightly, and we have to write, read, speak or do other work, then we have to put our whole mind into it,” he said. WHEN THE MIND IS FULLY THEREThe quote, “When there is concentration, two tasks cannot be done at the same time,” is therefore not simply about productivity. Maharaj was explaining that even spiritual practice should not become a distraction from one's duty.He said that when there is work to be done, people should do it properly and dedicate that work to God. When there is no work demanding their attention, they can chant the holy name. WHO IS PREMANAND MAHARAJ? Premanand Ji Maharaj, whose name is given by the Radha Keli Kunj as Shri Hit Premanand Govind Sharan Maharaj, is a spiritual teacher and Rasik saint associated with Vrindavan.According to the official Radha Keli Kunj biography, he was born as Aniruddh Kumar Pandey in Akhri village in Uttar Pradesh and developed an interest in spirituality at a young age. He left home at 13 to pursue a spiritual life and later came to Vrindavan, where he became associated with the RadhaVallabh tradition. His teachings repeatedly focus on devotion, surrender, concentration and seeing everyday duties as part of spiritual practice. OTHER TEACHINGS BY PREMANAND MAHARAJSee our God in all.The official Radha Keli Kunj website lists this among the practices Maharaj encourages, placing emphasis on seeing the divine in everyone and everything. Complete surrender. The teaching asks devotees to surrender themselves completely to PriyaPriyatam rather than allowing the ego to remain at the centre of spiritual life. The path of love is very narrow; two cannot fit there. The line appears on the official Radha Keli Kunj website alongside Maharaj’s guidance on complete surrender, reflecting the idea that love and ego cannot occupy the same space. The larger message behind his teaching on concentration is therefore straightforward: when a responsibility is in front of you, give it your complete attention. For Maharaj, even ordinary work can become part of spiritual practice when it is performed with full concentration and dedication. - Ends
