Quentin Tarantino to Release ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’ Book in December

Quentin Tarantino is ready to tell more adventures from his Once Upon a Time…. in Hollywood character, Cliff Booth, in an upcoming book. The director will pen and release the novel, The Adventures of Cliff Booth (Harper), this December. Harper describes of the synopsis for the book, “Hollywood, 1977. The Swinging Sixties are long gone — but Clifford Booth keeps on keeping on…War hero, stuntman, bartender, cinema projectionist… with the occasional ‘clandestine services‘ for his friends.“ The novel comes amid the title for the feature follow-up to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood being announced last month as The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. Harper David Fincher will take reigns as director with Brad Pitt reprising his role as stunt double Cliff Booth. Tarantino will pen the screenplay. He wrote and directed the 2019 Sony Pictures hit that also starred Leonardo DiCaprio. Pitt won his first acting Oscar for his role as Cliff Booth in 2020. While speaking on the Church of Tarantino podcast last year, Tarantino said the reason he wasn‘t directing the follow-up film was because he did not want his next directorial effort, which he intends to be his last, to be a sequel: “I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked. It just kind of unenthused me.” The upcoming film also stars Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian, and will be produced by Pitt and Ceán Chaffin. The new film will take place in 1977, eight years after the events of the first film, and centers on Booth coming to terms with a very different Hollywood. The film’s creative team includes Fincher’s longtime collaborators, like Erik Messerschmidt, ASC, as director of photography, and Donald Graham Burt as production designer. It’s edited by Kirk Baxter, ACE. Laray Mayfield is the casting director while Trish Summerville is the film‘s costume designer, Ren Klyce is sound designer, and Dave Macomber is stunt coordinator. The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will get a two-week Imax run globally starting Nov. 25 before it begins streaming on Netflix on Dec. 23. Tarantino‘s The Adventures of Cliff Booth novel will release on Dec. 8, 2026.
