Qualcomm Posts Patches For Enabling GPU Support In Their Snapdragon X2 Mahua SoC

Yesterday Qualcomm posted open-source GPU driver patches for their Adreno 850 GPU one day after being announced with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Yesterday Qualcomm also announced their Snapdragon X2 Linux support plans. Today they have posted the GPU enablement patches for what's found in the Mahua SoC for lower-tier Snapdragon X2 SoCs. Last year Qualcomm upstreamed their initial GPU support for the Snapdragon X2 Elite while now it's being extended for lower-tier X2 hardware. Mahua is the SoC codename for the Snapdragon X2 at lower 10 and 12 core configurations as a step below their X2 Elite with the Glymur codename. The patches posted to the Linux kernel mailing list today enable Mahua's Adreno X2-85 GPU and notes that compared to Glymur are fewer slices and smaller internal memory. Ultimately only a few dozen lines of new kernel graphics driver code are needed for enabling Mahua's GPU.
