Additionally, the chipmaker claims the powerful chip's NPU can run Mixture-of-Experts models with more than 30 billion parameters and features 50% larger shared memory. The company also emphasized its partnership with Google, bringing Rick Osterloh to the stage to reinforce Qualcomm and the Mountain View-based company's continued partnership and focus on AI. However, the conversation with Amon offered no new revelations beyond hyping Gemini and the concept of Agentic AI. "It's less bout natviating apps and more about completing tasks for you, and it's going to handle a lot of the details required to get things done for you," said Amon during the opening section of the keynote. "Whether the agent runs on the device or is built into the OS, it needs to do a lot of coordination, but your experiences need to remain useful, instantly secure, and always available." On the gaming side, Qualcomm outlined that the Extreme Gen 6 adds AI-dedicated Adreno matrix cores that power features like AI super resolution and frame generation through Adreno Neural Fusion. The chipmaker mentions a few specific mobile games that support these features, including Diablo Immortal, War Thunder Mobile, and Farming Simulator 26. Peak speeds across both chips' Oryon CPUs top out at 5.0GHz for its prime cores and 4.0GHz for its performance cores, with 16MB of Oryon Flex Cache. From a camera perspective, the new chip is the first consumer smartphone camera to capture 8K/60fps. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 also supports cinema-grade video with APV and 4K/240fps slow-motion video. Like its more powerful counterpart, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 can understand personal context across devices and emphasizes tailored agentic AI that learns and adapts to you over time. Other key features include zero-prompt AI photo editing and a new agentic AI-focused Hexagon Element Accelerator. Like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the Elite Gen 6 also features Qualcomm's X105 5G Modem-RF, which Qualcomm says paves the way for next-gen 6G AI-enhanced connectivity. However, it's still unclear how AI will fit into the next-generation wireless standard.
