Qatar’s PM-FM concludes two-day official visit to China

Qatar’s PM-FM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held talks with Chinese officials and business leaders on bilateral cooperation and regional developments during a two-day visit to Beijing.Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, concluded a two-day official visit to Beijing on Tuesday, meeting senior Chinese officials and executives from several Chinese companies.“I concluded my visit to the capital, Beijing, with shared aspirations to strengthen strategic relations across all fields,” Sheikh Mohammed said in a post.On Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss strengthening Qatar-China cooperation across various fields, as well as regional and international developments.“I had a fruitful meeting with my friend, HE Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of China. We discussed strengthening bilateral relations to serve our mutual interests, reviewed regional and international developments, & looked forward to working together for international peace & security,” Sheikh Mohammed said on X.The talks also addressed ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote security and stability in the region. Both sides stressed the importance of ensuring the security and freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s support for diplomatic efforts to secure freedom of maritime navigation and pave the way for a comprehensive agreement to achieve sustainable peace in the region.Sheikh Mohammed also met with founders, chairpersons and executives of several Chinese companies on the sidelines of his visit. The meetings covered cooperation and a range of issues of mutual interest.Separately, Qatar’s Minister of Municipality, Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, met with China’s Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ni Hong, in Beijing on Tuesday.The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in urban planning and development, infrastructure, and sustainable and smart building technologies.They also explored opportunities to expand cooperation and draw on advanced experiences in housing and urban development, including modern technologies and solutions to support more sustainable and smart cities and improve the quality and efficiency of the urban environment.The two-day visit began on Monday with Sheikh Mohammed meeting Chinese Premier Li Qiang to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, energy, artificial intelligence and other sectors, while also addressing regional developments and Qatar’s mediation efforts in the Middle East.Li called for closer alignment between the two countries’ development strategies and highlighted traditional energy, new-energy sources, AI and finance as areas for expanded cooperation.He also welcomed Qatari investment in China and greater Chinese investment in Qatar.
