Qatari Diar launches first phase of $29.7bn Alam Al-Roum project on Egypt’s North Coast

The plan also includes a marina at the centre of the city with capacity for 50 yachts, four hotels offering more than 1,000 rooms, sports centres, retail outlets and restaurants.The project is expected to create over 250,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, while attracting further investments and boosting Egypt’s economic growth, according to Qatari Diar.The agreement includes a cash component valued at USD 3.5 billion, in addition to an in-kind component comprising 396,000 square meters of built-up area, expected to generate revenues of no less than USD 1.8 billion.According to the master plan presented by the company, the full Alam Al-Roum project will include around 22 kilometers of lagoons directly open to the sea, along with a waterfront promenade and beaches.The project will also feature around 850,000 square meters of artificial swimming lagoons, an international yacht marina with capacity for 370 yachts and a local marina with 120 berths.The master plan includes an 18-hole golf course covering approximately 980,000 square meters, with direct views of the sea.The development will also include more than 3,500 hotel rooms across a range of international hotels and resorts, alongside residential, commercial, entertainment, cultural, educational and healthcare components.The $29.7 billion development is planned to be implemented over around 15 years, with deliveries for components of the first phase expected to begin in 2030.
