Qatar condemns renewed Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait

Doha warns escalating military actions threaten regional stability and holds Tehran fully responsible for consequences.Qatar has strongly condemned renewed Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, describing them as a flagrant violation of the three countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity and a breach of international law, the UN Charter and the principles of good neighbourliness.“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that the continuation of these attacks constitutes a dangerous escalation that could further complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region”, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement issued on Wednesday.“It holds the Islamic Republic of Iran fully legally responsible for these attacks and for any resulting repercussions and consequences”, the ministry added.Qatar also called for an immediate and complete halt to all military actions and attacks threatening regional security, urging all parties to avoid further escalation, return to serious dialogue and negotiations, and uphold understandings reached through diplomatic efforts.The statement came after Iran launched a wave of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S.-linked military sites in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait late Tuesday, in retaliation for fresh U.S. strikes on Iranian military targets earlier on Tuesday.Washington said its operation targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facilities, including air-defence sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites.Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had targeted the U.S. Marine facility at Camp Titin in Jordan with ballistic missiles.The IRGC also said its Aerospace Force launched a “heavy ballistic missile attack” on the U.S. airbase at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, targeting hangars housing RQ-4 and MQ-9 drones.The IRGC claimed several drones were destroyed and that pilots and flight maintenance personnel were killed, adding that multiple infrastructure facilities at the base were set ablaze.The IRGC said the attack on Prince Hassan Air Base was carried out in retaliation for a U.S. strike on a wedding ceremony near Sirik in the Hormuzgan province on Tuesday, which it said killed at least five people, including a child, and injured dozens.The Jordan Armed Forces confirmed that its air defences intercepted and destroyed 10 of 13 ballistic missiles that entered the country’s airspace, with the remaining three landing in remote, uninhabited areas. No casualties were reported.In Bahrain, the country’s air defence systems intercepted and destroyed Iranian drones, according to the Bahrain National Communication Centre. Kuwait, meanwhile, said its air defences were responding to hostile Iranian missile and drone threats.
