Qatar condemns renewed Iranian attacks on Jordan as regional escalations intensify, calling for an immediate halt to military operations and a return to dialogue and negotiations.Qatar has strongly condemned renewed Iranian attacks on Jordan, describing them as a flagrant violation of the kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a breach of international law and the UN Charter.“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the continuation of these attacks represents a dangerous escalation that would complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region,” Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement issued on Wednesday.The ministry also held Iran legally responsible for the attacks and their repercussions and consequences, while reaffirming Qatar’s full solidarity with Amman and its support for measures taken by Jordan to safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.Qatar also called for an immediate and comprehensive halt to military operations and attacks threatening regional security, urging all sides to avoid actions that could widen the cycle of escalation and return to dialogue and negotiations.The statement came after Iran launched a fresh ballistic missile attack towards Jordan on Wednesday.The Jordanian Armed Forces said its air defences intercepted and destroyed 18 of 20 ballistic missiles fired towards Jordanian territory, while two missiles fell in unpopulated areas. No casualties were reported.Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the attack targeted a U.S. military base near Al Azraq in Jordan.The latest escalation came amid a broader U.S.-Iran confrontation, with U.S. forces striking five Iranian crude oil tankers on Tuesday and Iran subsequently launching missile and maritime attacks.Washington said its strikes on the tankers followed Iranian attacks on U.S. naval vessels.
