Qatar’s foreign ministry condemns Israeli airstrikes on Syria’s Abu al-Duhur military airport in Idlib as a violation of Syrian sovereignty.Qatar on Tuesday strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes targeting the Abu al-Duhur military airport in Syria’s Idlib province, describing the attack as a “flagrant violation” of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter. In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Israel’s continued violations of the sovereignty of countries across the region, without effective international deterrence, reflected what it described as a dangerous approach aimed at imposing facts on the ground by force.“If Israel seeks to impose a new reality in its surroundings, the international community must, in turn, deal firmly with the reality that the Israeli occupation is acting as though it is above the law, amid international silence and inability to deter it, and must assume its responsibilities in putting an end to these violations,” MoFA said in the statement. Qatar also cautioned that the absence of accountability and deterrence could encourage further violations, threatening regional security and stability and potentially pushing the region into a broader cycle of escalation.Doha reaffirmed its support for Syria, saying it stands alongside the Syrian government and supports all efforts aimed at preserving the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The condemnation follows airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur military airport in eastern Idlib on Tuesday. Syrian state media reported that Israeli aircraft carried out multiple strikes against the facility, causing material damage but no reported casualties. Syrian state television reported eight airstrikes on the runway of the air base. The airport has been out of service since 2012 following Syria’s prolonged civil war. Israel has not publicly claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Israeli military did not comment on the reports.
