Qatar condemned Iran’s attacks on Jordan, calling them a violation of the kingdom’s sovereignty and urging an immediate de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.Qatar has strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, describing them as a “flagrant violation” of Jordan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a “brazen breach” of international law and the United Nations Charter. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed on Wednesday that the continuation of such attacks represents a dangerous escalation that could hinder ongoing de-escalation efforts and undermine diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring security and stability in the region.The ministry called for “the immediate and complete cessation of all military actions and assaults” that threaten regional security, urging all parties to avoid steps that could widen the cycle of escalation and to return to dialogue and negotiations while respecting understandings reached through diplomatic efforts.Qatar also reiterated its “full solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan” and affirmed its support for all measures taken by Amman to protect its sovereignty and security.The condemnation came after Jordan’s air defences intercepted missiles launched from Iran in an attack targeting areas hosting U.S forces in the kingdom. The US military described the incident as an “attempted surprise attack” against American forces, adding that US forces remained “vigilant and at a high state of readiness”. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its air force had targeted the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base and a US Central Command facility in Jordan. In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC said: “As long as threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue and illegal and vicious actions by American forces against our interests continue, the resistance will continue.” Jordan’s armed forces confirmed the interception of the missiles and stressed that the country would not tolerate any threats to its security. The escalation has further heightened tensions across the region, with U.S. President Donald Trump warning of a strong response, saying: “We’ll be hitting them hard,” in remarks to Fox News. The developments come amid wider regional confrontations involving Iran, the United States and their allies, raising concerns over further instability and the impact on ongoing diplomatic efforts.
