Puttur MLA accuses two KRIDL engineers of corrupt practices

Shivakumar accusing two engineers of the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) in Dakshina Kannada of corrupt practices and seeking disciplinary action against them if the allegations are proved.In a letter dated August 25, the MLA said the two officials were collecting excess amounts from contractors executing KRIDL works, claiming that the contractors had to make monthly payments to the district in-charge minister and the minister in charge of KRIDL. He said he had received complaints from contractors in this regard. Contractors had also told him that the two officials harassed them when they questioned the demands.Seeking a dispassionate inquiry into the allegations, the MLA said the two officials should be suspended or transferred to another district pending completion of the inquiry. If the charges are found to be true, strict action should be taken against them, he said. The excess money collected by the officials should also be recovered from them, the MLA said in the letter.
