In that game, No. 4 Ohio State pummeled Purdue 24-7, with the Boilermakers averted from a shutout on the game’s last play. Does anyone remember Jeff Lindsay (the Purdue player who scored the touchdown)? The warmest night game Purdue has played in its history was in 1999 (94 degrees at kickoff) when the Drew Brees-led Boilermakers blasted Central Florida 47-13 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. 3 Number of times Purdue has opened its season against Indiana State once the game is kicked off on Friday night. The teams have opened the Boilermakers’ season twice before, in 2006 and 2024. In ’06, the Boilermakers commemorated the 40th anniversary of their first Rose Bowl season with throwback uniforms (below) in a 56-35 victory. Dorien Bryant has the most receiving yards (154) in the Purdue-ISU series, set in 2006 in the vintage unis. (Tom Campbell) 5-10-1 Purdue’s all-time record in games played on Friday. In contests played on Friday night, the Boilermakers have lost six straight contests, with three of those games played in Ross-Ade. The last win was coach Jeff Brohm’s first as Purdue’s head man, a 44-7 shellacking of Ohio in 2017. Austin Appleby quarterbacked Purdue to a 38-14 victory over Indiana State in 2015, tossing four TDs in the process. The Akron, Ohio native serves as an offensive analyst for coach Barry Odom. 9 and 119 Number of quarters since Indiana State has scored against Purdue. The Sycamores scored in the third quarter of the 2015 game (the game pictured above), but were shut out in losses in 2022 and 2024. The Boilermakers have scored 119 unanswered points against their foes from Terre Haute. Ricardo Allen saved the day with a late interception in Purdue’s 20-14 victory over Indiana State in 2013. It was Purdue’s lone victory over in 2013, the first year under coach Darrell Hazell (Tom Campbell) 2 Twice ,the Gold and Black’s victory over Indiana State was the Boilermakers’ lone win of the season. In 2013 in the second game of coach Darrell Hazell’s tenure, Purdue survived a 20-14 score. Eleven years later, it wasn’t close, as Purdue won 49-0 in the lone triumph of the 2024 season. Hudson Card was nearly perfect in his Purdue record-setting game against ISUin 2024 (Chad Krockover) 24 of 25 Quarterback Hudson Card’s FBS record-tying performance in the Boilermakers’ 49-0 win over Indiana State on August 31, 2024. Card threw for 273 yards and four TDs. Purdue’s best previous performance was by Kyle Orton (.885, 23-26) against Ball State in 2004. 9 Coach Barry Odom can become the ninth Purdue coach in history to win back-to-back season openers in the first two years of a coaching stint. Jim Colletto is the last coach to do it (1991-92) and the only one since World War II to achieve the feat.
