Pune exam aspirant assaulted, kidnapped over contact with accused's girlfriend

A man preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations was assaulted and kidnapped in Pune by a group of men for keeping contact with the girlfriend of one of the accused, police said on Thursday. Two accused have been arrested, while police are searching for two others.The man, identified as Prasad Suryawanshi, was standing near Chimnya Maruti Chowk on Thursday when the men arrived in a car and confronted him. The accused questioned him about his communication with the woman, assaulted him and forcibly took him into the vehicle.According to police, the woman was in regular contact with both Suryawanshi and the main accused, who is reportedly her boyfriend. After learning about their conversations, the accused became angry and, along with his friends, planned the kidnapping.Police launched an investigation after receiving information about the incident. Police examined CCTV footage from the area and conducted a technical investigation to trace the vehicle. The probe revealed that the accused had driven towards the Sinhagad Road area. Police subsequently laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle, rescuing Suryawanshi safely within a few hours of his kidnapping.
