With the announcement, the Internet had jokes.Why?Since January 2023, not long after their second straight national championship, the Georgia Bulldogs have had more than 30 players arrested, per Fox News, the majority of which have been for vehicular incidents such as reckless driving.“We are proud to be a part of Progressive’s impactful investment in college athletics,” J. Reid Parker athletics director Josh Brooks said. “As we look for additional revenue streams while maintaining our strong positioning on a national level, this relationship assists in providing the necessary resources for our student-athletes. We are thrilled that Progressive is joining the many outstanding game day traditions at Sanford Stadium.” Georgia is one of 13 college football programs nationwide to take part in this initiative, joining Boise State, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Purdue, SMU, Syracuse, Texas Tech, USC and Wake Forest. But, of course, the Internet was all about the Bulldogs teaming with an auto insurance company.In addition to on-field branding, this collaboration will include sideboard features, in-venue LED signage, digital and social media integrations and other game day experiences designed to engage fans.
