Private schools push back on budget’s suicide-hotline mandate

North Carolina's new state budget requires nearly every school in the state, including private religious ones, to display the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline number in six places, from student IDs to school-issued devices. The state's largest Christian school association wants the mandate removed and is advising members to formally reserve their legal rights in the meantime.
