Prince William and his eldest son, Prince George, 13, were spotted breaking one of the most serious royal rules going, when they were seen flying on a British Airways commercial flight on their way to a football match in Barcelona. A video of the pair standing to disembark the plane has been shared online. Not only were fellow passengers shocked to see the royals traveling in (what looks like) economy class seats, rather than swanky business ones, but this is a huge breach of protocol.Typically, royal guidelines dictate that future heirs should not travel together, in case the worst happens and there's a plane crash which could wipe out the family line. If that were to happen, Princess Charlotte would then become the next monarch after King Charles passes away.It is reported that the only way the pair is allowed to travel together is if they've obtained permission from King Charles beforehand (and this same rule was in place when Charles was next-in-line to the throne and wanted to travel somewhere with William; the late Queen Elizabeth II would have to formally give the green light beforehand). This isn't the only mandate that the royals are encouraged to abide by when traveling overseas, either. After the death of Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI, while she was away in Kenya, the family must now all pack a black mourning outfit, too. It's said that once Her Majesty's plane touched down, she had to wait for an appropriate dress to be delivered to the airport, before she could step off the plane and face the press and general public. Hardly ideal when you've just been told dreadful news.George recently started secondary school at Eton College, so no doubt William would have enjoyed getting a chance to catch up with his teenage son and have some quality bonding time—both on and off the plane.
