Prime Video already has a replacement for its smash-hit superhero satire series The Boys, and it returns for a new season in just one week. Prime Video has some great shows, from animated series like Invincible to sci-fi series like Fallout and breakout romance shows like Off Campus. While those shows are all quite successful, none of them acted as Prime Video's flagship series, both in terms of spinoffs and staying power, quite as well as The Boys did. While there are other properties tied to The Boys in development, like the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising, Prime Video's flagship is waning in popularity. With the spinoff series Gen V's recent cancelation and the ending of The Boys back in May, the franchise is slowing down significantly. The Boys' ending also proved quite divisive, which doesn't bode well for Vought Rising's viewership numbers. Prime Video needs a new flagship franchise now that The Boys can't act as its most popular series anymore. Luckily, the streamer already had a replacement for The Boys that was well underway and only growing in popularity. Alan Ritchson's Reacher may be a very different show, thanks to its more grounded and realistic approach to murder mysteries, but it's exactly what Prime Video needs, and its new season is coming at exactly the right time. Reacher Has Become Prime Video's New Flagship Series After The Boys Now that The Boys is over, Reacher is Prime Video's clearest flagship series. Reacher has long been one of Prime Video's best shows and certainly one of its most popular, as Reacher season 3 became the most-watched returning show in the streamer's history. It's hard to gauge Prime Video's viewership metrics, but Reacher is at least as popular as other major hits like Off Campus and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Reacher has the popularity to be Prime Video's flagship series, but it also has the structure to do so. Reacher season 4 is set to premiere in just one week, on August 12, just a little over a year after season 3 ended. Reacher comes out with new episodes more consistently and more quickly than most Prime Video shows, including The Boys, which is perfect for a flagship franchise. Most importantly, Reacher seems to have legs for the future. Not only is Reacher season 5 already confirmed, the series is getting its first spinoff show in the form of the upcoming Neagley series, starring Maria Sten, which is set to premiere on September 16. Reacher is primed to become a franchise unto itself, something other contenders like Fallout and Off Campus can't boast yet. If there was ever a show that could replicate The Boys' success, it's Reacher. What To Expect From Reacher Season 4 & Beyond Reacher's new status as Prime Video's main flagship show isn't the only reason to be excited about the future of Alan Ritchson's series, however. Based on Lee Childs' novel Gone Tomorrow, Reacher season 4 is set to go into one of the show's best conspiracies to date. It'll likely involve suicide bombers, police, war veterans, and more. It's all the mystery and thrills of previous Reacher seasons combined with the plot of one of Childs' best novels. The four seasons of Reacher Season Year Rotten Tomatoes critics' rating Rotten Tomatoes audience rating 1 2022 92% 91% 2 2023 98% 77% 3 2025 98% 73% 4 2026 TBD TBD The Neagley spinoff, as well, has plenty of things to get excited about. Per the show's logline, Neagley is going to have to use everything she learned from Reacher to solve her friend's murder. The show is going to dive headfirst into Neagley's past, push her to the limit both physically and mentally, and, hopefully, provide all the same thrills Reacher fans know and love. Most importantly, Neagley will be a chance to show that this franchise has an almost limitless number of stories left to tell and mysteries left to solve. There are still quite a few unknowns about Reacher season 4 and Neagley season 1, as they are mystery thrillers, but what we do know paints a very flattering picture of the franchise's future. There's a chance that Reacher season 4 could be the show's best outing yet, and it will likely continue the stellar reception its previous three seasons achieved. In short, Reacher is shaping up to be an exciting replacement for The Boys in more ways than one.
