Smartphones are going to be more expensive from August. Samsung, Oppo, Realme, and Xiaomi are planning to raise prices of multiple devices, ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000.“Prices are increasing for Samsung A Series, Realme C83 and P Series, and OPPO A Series smartphones in the first week of August,” a source familiar with the matter told India Today Tech. “Redmi A7 and A7 Pro 4G prices will also an increase.” Apart from smartphones, Xiaomi is also expected to raise prices of select TVs in India.This comes at a time when smartphone makers are facing high component costs, particularly for RAM and NAND, due to rising demand from AI datacentres.India Today Tech has reached out to Samsung, Xiaomi, and Oppo for a comment. The story will be updated as and when the companies respond. Realme declined to comment. India Today Tech previously reported that the Nothing Phone 4a will likely see a price hike on August 1.Which smartphones may get price hike in August?As per sources, Samsung may hike prices of multiple devices including the Galaxy A07 4G, Galaxy A06 5G, and the Galaxy A07 5G – selling at the moment for Rs 16,999. The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G, and the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G may also see a hike. These devices cover Samsung’s affordable segment, ranging from Rs 11,999 for the Galaxy A07 4G to Rs 22,499 for the Galaxy A17 5G. The lineup may see a hike ranging between Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 depending on the variant.Oppo is expected to hike prices for the A series. To give you some context, the Oppo A6x 5G is currently selling for Rs 19,999, while the Oppo A6 5G is available for Rs 24,999.For Realme, it is unclear how many phones may get a price hike. The Realme C83 is available right now for Rs 17,499. Apart from the C83, we may see select P4 series devices getting a hike. For context, the Realme P4 5G is listed right now at Rs 24,999. The Realme P4R 5G and the Realme P4 Pro 5G are available for Rs 20,999 and Rs respectively.The Redmi models expected to see a hike are the Redmi A7 4G and Redmi A7 Pro 4G. Their current prices are Rs 12,499 and Rs 13,499 respectively. Both models may become costlier by around Rs 2,000.
