Presley Gerber’s death being investigated as suspected overdose, police confirm

The 27-year-old model is the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, while his sister is model and actress Kaia Gerber. His death was confirmed today by a representative for the family, who requested privacy on their behalf while they grieve during this ‘very difficult and painful time’. Stars including Paris Hilton, Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz, have since paid tribute, writing that they are ‘heartbroken’. Gerber was found dead at a rehabilitation centre in Los Angeles, with TMZ reporting that he had been staying at a separate house on the grounds with roommates. Now, a spokesperson for the Santa Monica Police Department has confirmed to Metro that officers responded to calls of a ‘possible overdose’ at 9.35am on Sunday in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street. He was pronounced dead at 9.45am. ‘SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose.’ At this time, there is ‘no indication of foul play’. Gerber’s official cause and manner of death are yet to be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, and the investigation remains ongoing. He experienced depression and had recently been taking medication for night terrors and panic attacks. His family was ‘tight-knit’ and supportive of his recovery efforts, with Cindy, 60, leaving a sweet comment on one of his Instagram posts just months ago. In March, Gerber posted from a treatment centre in Mexico. His caption said he was ‘terrified’ ahead of undergoing a controversial treatment, a pre-ibogaine flood dose, which aims to achieve a ‘complete interruption of chemical dependency’ and trigger ‘massive brain repair’. He added: ‘Praying it’s the last time I have to come back.’ Cindy commented, ‘You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! I love you so much❤️’ Just last month, actress Kaia spoke to Vogue about her brother’s ‘decade-long struggle with drug addiction’. ‘When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,’ she said. ‘I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help.
