Premier League fans name greatest-ever RETIRED XI including Man Utd and Chelsea legends… but just ONE Arsenal icon

PREMIER LEAGUE fans have put together their best ever XI of retired legends… and there are some massive surprises. Fans were asked to select their ultimate team from a shortlist of more than 100 former Prem stars aged 40-plus. The same goes for Liverpool as the fans only chose one England legend in the 4-4-2 formation. Man Utd legend Peter Schmeichel, 62, is placed in goal, while his defence includes former team-mate Gary Neville, 51, and fellow club great Rio Ferdinand, 47. Chelsea hero Ashley Cole, 45, – an Arsenal favourite before his controversial move in 2006 – makes it at left-back, while fellow Stamford Bridge great John Terry, 45, teams up with Ferdinand at centre-back. The Blues’ all-time top scorer Frank Lampard, 48, links up with Tottenham and Newcastle legend Paul Gascoigne, 59 – who played for Everton and Middlesbrough in the Prem – in midfield. Sir David Beckham, 51, becomes another United great to enter the list with Steven Gerrard, 46, as the sole Liverpool representative in the TENA Men poll of 2,000 British male football fans aged 45 and over. And the attack is spearheaded by all-time Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer, 56, and Arsenal’s only representative Thierry Henry, 49, who is still the club’s top scorer. Rooney is Man Utd’s record goalscorer, while Scholes is considered as the league’s best ever midfielder by many. This survey aims to raise awareness on health risks relating to men who are the same age as the aforementioned Premier League legends.
