PREMIER LEAGUE cult icon Charlie Austin shared his disappointment after missing out on a coaching role with his former outfit. He wrote on X: “First job interview disappointment. “Gutted not to progress to the next stage for QPR Academy coaching team. The club I really wanted to work with. Will keep working hard and hoping my time will come “Good luck to whoever lands the role, what a club you get to join!” When one critic accused him of making the post for attention, Austin hit back with a classy reply, writing: “No hidden agenda. Just honest disappointment at missing out on a role at a club I think highly of. “Nothing but respect for QPR, the process was fair and professional, everyone was great. This just weren’t my time.” Austin scored 61 times across 148 total appearances for the Rs, during spells from 2013-16 and 2021-2022. After leaving the second time he ended up heading abroad to join Brisbane Roar.
