Pregnant Odisha woman, missing for days, found dead in Andhra Pradesh

A 22-year-old woman from Odisha's Koraput district, missing since July 29, was found buried in Andhra Pradesh. Police have arrested two men and are probing the alleged murder, motive and cross-border disposal of the body.Two arrested after the body of a pregnant Odisha woman was found in Andhra Pradesh (Photo: Representational )The body of a 22-year-old pregnant woman who went missing from Odisha's Koraput district on July 29 was recovered from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, with police suspecting that she was murdered and her body transported across the state border and buried underground.The victim has been identified as Albina Garada, a resident of Tunkhal village under Dasmantpur police limits in Koraput district.Police have arrested two people in connection with the murder. The accused have been identified as 35-year-old Mohan Khilla and 19-year-old Milan Kuldeep. Police have accused the duo of killing Albina and subsequently transporting and burying her body in Andhra Pradesh.WOMAN WENT MISSING FROM SEMILIGUDA AREAAccording to police, Albina went missing from Semiliguda on July 29. On August 1, Mohan Khilla lodged a missing-person complaint at the Semiliguda police station. During the investigation, police found clues indicating that Albina may have been a victim of a criminal act. Mohan and Milan were subsequently detained and questioned.Police said their interrogation provided crucial information about the disposal of Albina's body. Acting on the information, Semiliguda police, with assistance from Andhra Pradesh Police, launched a search operation in the Gajapathinagaram area of Vizianagaram district.BODY RECOVERED FROM BURIAL SITE The partially decomposed body was recovered from a spot near a tree at Marupalli village, where police alleged it had been buried.Police exhumed the body and completed the required legal formalities. Albina's father reportedly identified her from the clothes recovered with the body. A panchnama was conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, family members and witnesses.The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Biological samples have also been preserved for DNA testing to establish the identity and assist the investigation.CAR, MOBILE PHONES, AND OTHER FORENSIC EVIDENCE SEIZEDAs part of the investigation, police seized a car that was used to transport and dispose of the body. They also recovered tools suspected to have been used to dig the burial site.Mobile phones and clothes belonging to the accused, along with other forensic evidence, have also been seized and sent for examination.Police have reportedly found during the investigation that Mohan Khilla was already married twice and was allegedly in a relationship with Albina.
