Pope Tawadros II, the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church, laid the foundation stone for the Patriarchs’ Cathedral in Al Fashn, Beni Suef governorate. The Pope said that the state is moving forward on its path of development, while the efforts of its institutions come together and each party fulfills its role in serving people and society. He stressed that love, belonging, and joint efforts are the foundation upon which nations are built. During his visit to Beni Suef governorate, Pope Tawadros said that the new cathedral is not merely a place of worship, but also a place for raising responsible citizens who understand and appreciate the meaning of the homeland and the value of citizenship. He noted that construction carries great symbolic significance, stressing that building any city or society is not completed through facilities, roads, and buildings alone, but begins, above all, with building the individual.
