She added that Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński and Tomasz Siemoniak, the minister overseeing Poland’s intelligence services, had ordered security agencies to take action. Officials from the police, the State Protection Service, which protects senior government officials, and Poland’s ABW domestic intelligence agency met at the agency’s counterterrorism center in Warsaw. ‘High likelihood’ of threats being carried out Speaking after the meeting, Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister coordinating Poland’s intelligence services, said there was a “high likelihood” that the reported threats could be carried out. “We are treating this matter extremely, indeed deadly, seriously,” he told reporters. He added: “We have talked a great deal over the past week about the radicalization of young people, the radicalization of adults, and various threats that sometimes turn out to be foolish jokes. “But in this case, we are talking about a high likelihood that these threats will be carried out. That is why officers are now working on the case.” Other Topics of Interest ‘I Love the Smell of Russian Gas’: Controversial Polish Politician Backs Nord Stream Grzegorz Braun urged Poland to help revive Nord Stream during an appearance with Germany’s far-right AfD, drawing accusations of “shame and treason.” Dobrzyński said the State Protection Service had first received the information and passed it to police after conducting initial checks. Police were now working through their own sources and channels to verify the information, he added. Officials did not disclose the precise nature of the threats or whether any suspects had been identified. ‘Matter is serious’ Earlier, Government spokesperson Adam Szłapka told private broadcaster Polsat News that “the matter is serious,” adding that Tusk had been informed about the threat at around 7 a.m. on Sunday. He said the prime minister remained in Warsaw and was continuing his official duties. Tusk has previously raised concerns about his safety, saying in 2024 that he had received threats following an assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. In August, Polish police detained a 23-year-old man accused of calling for the assassination of senior politicians. Sunday’s announcement came as authorities in Poland have been on high alert following a wave of violence in schools that resulted in the death of a 37-year-old female janitor on Thursday.
